Whilst we don’t dictate how you work (it is your business after all!), we do ask that you refer to our Designer Handbook for guidance and tips on how to set up your profile.
As a maker/designer you can sign up and create a profile under either our standard or premium options. Once your profile is set up you have access to browse through jobs and projects that have been posted by home owners. You also get access to member benefits (for example, discount on business print). You can chat through the private chat interface to potential clients and find work. Additionally, you may want to connect with other professionals in your area or further afield and build trade relationships.
We don’t have any involvement in what you quote for your services. We don’t take commission, either. Put simply, you simply pay us your membership fee :
Basic: £10 per month or £100 per year
Premium: £12 per month or £110 per year
We do ask that you don’t charge for initial consultation discussions online. If you charge for initial call/meets with a potential client, please be very clear with them upfront that this is expected.
We encourage a full consultation process takes place, as would happen normally, prior to agreeing to work with a client. Once consultation has taken place, you should provide them with a quote and agreement for services and go from there.
A. Once you have subscribed to HoM and created your profile, you can access all our live job listings as part of the member pages. These can be filtered by job type and location. It may also be that a homeowner has viewed your profile, loves with your work and connects with you directly.
HoM offers easy marketing for your business through both our site and through social media to enable you to find new clients. You can showcase your work and actively seek it through browsing through our live jobs. You may use it to connect with other designers to make trade relationships. You can also access additional member benefits (e.g. discounted business print), which is an area of membership that we are looking to grow.
